    Advising
“This is About a Book” is a self-referential book that serves as a metaphor for my experience and process while creating. The book explores my own personal identity and thought process within the constructs of book design and the creation of a physical book. The book’s structure is set up in controlled signatures along with a static grid system. It utilizes my own identity as the starting point of the book. It then asks questions about itself by defining words about the size, format, structure and other elements in an ambiguous way. Every eighth page contains a photo of the book itself, which is layered on top of the same self-portrait of the book. These images get further away throughout the book similarly to how tangents get further away from the starting point. Using a Risograph printer for the images is similar to how each defined tangent is a completely new topic. www.amandagoldstein.net .
