Nancy has been teaching Integrative Seminar, the wonderfully collaborative freshman writing course in the First Year at Parsons since 2013. In addition, she has had the privilege of working 1-on-1 with students from across the university as a writing and time-management tutor at the University Learning Center since 2014. In 2020, she was the recipient of a Distinguished University Teaching Award in recognition of her service to students and the university. Over the years, Nancy has worked as a faculty mentor, leading a variety of workshops on dynamic classroom strategies, reading strategies and creative ways to support student growth and development through writing. She has also worked to support the university’s shared capacities initiative and on various internal, administrative writing projects related to curriculum at Parsons. Before receiving her MFA in Nonfiction Creative Writing from the New School, Nancy worked for more than two decades as a documentary film editor, producer, director and consultant. In that capacity she has collaborated with numerous award-winning independent filmmakers and worked for more traditional outlets such as PBS, HBO, ABC, Frontline, American Masters and Bill Moyers. Nancy’s own fiction writing focuses on her favorite subjects: obsession, false assumptions and heroic failure.
