Profile
Mira Dayal is an artist, writer, editor, and educator based in Brooklyn. Dayal combines techniques, materials, and conceptual questions from sculpture, drawing, photography, installation, mass production, and digital technologies. She produces exhibitions that are often site-specific and involve subtle, laborious uses of everyday materials; critical reflections on changing technologies; and explorations of the limits of language.
Dayal recently coedited Track changes: a handbook for art criticism (Paper Monument, 2023), a collection of writings by twenty-five writers and editors that was informed by Dayal's work as Ideas Editor at Art in America, associate editor and regular contributor at Artforum, and founding editor of the Journal of Art Criticism. Dayal is currently editing a series of columns on art criticism for Mousse Magazine and has for the past decade contributed to numerous other magazines and exhibition catalogues for venues such as the New Museum in New York and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
