Profile
Julienne DeVita is a former multimedia designer turned futures consultant and adjunct professor after gaining a front row seat to the catastrophic results of short-term thinking and consumption. While many organizations remain anchored in short-term solutionism, Julienne develops strategies with clients that anticipate change over the next 5–20 years. Blending strategic foresight, systems thinking, and design methods, she helps organizations make better decisions by understanding the future impact of today’s actions.
Her clients run the gamut, spanning AI governance and policy, education in global food systems; public health in Washington, DC; creative labor and AI; and much more. The Washington DC Department of Health, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, IBM, Georgetown University, and EY have all tapped her for her research.
A staunch advocate of the democratization of learning, Julienne encourages professionals, students, and adult learners to challenge assumptions, anticipate change, and engage in long-term thinking. She is an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design, where she teaches a variety of AI design and foresight courses for undergraduate and adult learners. Her subversive teaching environment turns classroom hierarchy on its head, resulting in experiential learning for both student and teacher.
Julienne is a Resident Researcher studying Embodied Futures at Studio Atelierista and the chapter lead for the NYC arm of Futures Friends. She was recently awarded a research grant to create an AI Design Ethics Toolkit, and has published multiple peer-reviewed papers on the topic. She has presented at conferences including Primer22, Dubai Future Forum, Learn X Design, and others.
Julienne earned her MFA in Transdisciplinary Design from Parsons and a BA in Multimedia Design from American University.
