At The New School John teaches Graphic Design 2, Portfolio Development, Graphic Design History, Summer Graphic Design Intensives and with the XR Reality Center developed an immersive AR virtual graphic design history experience.
Course development incorporates creative thinking, theory, technique, ideation, research, cultural, social and aspects of producing effective visual communications. Students are encouraged to develop their personal voice and how to present themselves and their work in a professional setting.
John is visiting professor at Pratt Institute, City University of New York and St John’s University teaching Typography, Graphic Design, Communication Design, Portfolio Development and Communication Design History
Professional practice includes the development of cultural/educational programs, corporate and international governmental trade and cultural campaigns; creative direction print and online, digital design, branding, illustration, all aspects of editorial publishing/promotional design, and multi disciplined creative efforts.
Professional experience: co-founder, creative director of Webb Communications, a new media design firm.; publisher/illustrator Rovere Publishing, creating educational posters for museums and national parks throughout the country: Newseum, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Gettysburg Civil War Museum, Philadelphia Independence Hall; Freelance art director at Architectural Record, Scientific American; Art Director, United Nations, designed creative/marketing campaigns for UN initiatives globally Worked with artists to design United Nations postage stamps.
Clients include: Milan Chamber of Commerce, The Italian Trade Commission, Italy-America Chamber of Commerce, Forbes, Fortune, New York City Police Museum, Italian Cultural Institute of New York, Italian Consulate of New York, Milan Convention Center.
