Hyon Woo Scott Chung is a visionary architectural/urban designer, educator, and researcher. He is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at Parsons School of Design, and the founder of HWS Design Studio. He has previously held teaching positions in design studios at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, as well as at the Pratt Institute School of Architecture.
Hyon Woo Scott specializes in innovative design and development using emerging technologies. His ongoing research explores the future of intelligent, sustainable architecture through a creative lens at various scales of the constructed environment. In particular, he investigates how recent technological developments can build upon past innovations to create environmentally responsible architecture. By understanding the positive impact of new technologies or imaginative visions in the fight against climate change, Hyon Woo Scott approaches the development of intelligent production of future urban design and planning.
Prior to his current role, he worked at Weiss/Manfredi Architecture/Landscape/Urbanism as a Senior Project Architect. In addition to his professional experience, he has also conducted a number of international architectural and urban design workshops and delivered a variety of lectures.
He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Sci-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) and his Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University.
