    Profile

Alvaro Uribe is an American born, Colombian raised and New York-based designer. He graduated from Pratt Institute with honors and soon after started his own boutique and design studio collaborating with international design brands in decor, and local corporations in mass consumer products.

Alvaro’s vision is to create products that have what he calls ‘emotional function’, which are products that pass their utilitarian use, fill the user’s life with joy, magic, and curiosity. His work is characterized by a poetic language rooted in the beauty of nature and culture and dedicated to finding ways in which color, form, and materials can elevate people’s experiences and perception of design.

Today Alvaro’s studio works with worldwide brands such as Built NY, Beatriz Bal, Corzo Tequila, Copco, Chobani, Dansk, Gantri, Glade, Lyfe, Nachtmann, Nambe, Nicole, Rogaska, Rosenthal, Savora, Steelform, Soffi, , and Wooda. Alvaro’s work has collected numerous recognized awards such as the Red Dot Design Award and the Good Design Award Chicago Athenaeum. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco and the Phyletische Museum in Germany, as well as published in some of the most prestigious magazines and books such as Architectural Digest, Bazaar, Design Indaba, Elle Decor, Interior Design, Luxuria, Surface Magazine, among others.
