    Austin is a licensed architect and urban designer, with experience in educational, commercial, residential, and cultural projects. He is an Associate at FXFOWLE Architects, has taught at Columbia University, and has served as a regular guest critic at CCNY, NYIT, NJIT, Columbia University, and NYU.

    In 2017 Austin was appointed as a Commissioner to the Jersey City Historic Preservation Commission by Mayor Steven Fulop. Austin has also served as a Board Member of the Harsimus Cove Neighborhood Association in Jersey City NJ, a community organization which works with the City Administration to address issues ranging from development, public space, streets and sidewalks, quality of life, and zoning.
