J-1 Visiting Scholars

Through The New School's Exchange Visitor program, international exchange visitors can enter the United States temporarily to teach, lecture, study, observe, conduct research, consult, train, or demonstrate special skills.

Information for New School Departments & Colleges

ISSS assists New School departments with meeting the immigration requirements for inviting visiting professors, research scholars, and short-term scholars under the J-1 Exchange Visitor program and guest lecturers under a provision in the B-1 (Business Visa) or WB (Business Visa Waiver) category. Please refer to Procedures for Inviting a Visiting Scholar to The New School.

If you have any questions about bringing a visiting scholar to The New School, please contact iss@newschool.edu. ISSS will provide the Request for Form DS-2019 and Invitation Letter template to the department after the initial inquiry.
