  • Coaching Opportunities

The Graduate Fellowship is a two-year cohort experience designed to support high-potential leaders from underrepresented backgrounds who are committed to creating positive change through entrepreneurship while pursuing a master's degree at The New School. We are seeking coaches from diverse backgrounds to support the learning of Fellows during the first year of their entrepreneurial journey, guiding students in developing the mindsets, skills, and confidence to translate their ideas into reality.

Over the course of the spring semester, coaches support Fellows in maintaining momentum as they strengthen their leadership skills, deepen their understanding of the challenge they seek to address, and prepare a strong application for the Venture Lab. Coaches attend at least three in-person cohort sessions and provide additional advising by phone or virtually. Coaches will be connected with students based on a combination of factors, including mutual interest and type of support needed.

The ideal coach is knowledgeable about entrepreneurship and has demonstrated interest in or experience supporting the personal growth of others. Coaches may be first-time founders, serial entrepreneurs, or intrapreneurs committed to addressing complex societal challenges. They should be familiar with the process of validating a business idea and have experience working with groups that are underrepresented in regard to entrepreneurship participation in the U.S. economy.

    • Contribute directly to the mission of reducing persistent barriers faced by female entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs of color who are seeking to address unmet societal needs
    • Experience the satisfaction of witnessing individuals from diverse backgrounds developing the confidence and resilience to effectively chart and navigate their entrepreneurial journey
    • Further develop and refine coaching skills while supporting graduate students in achieving their individual learning goals
    • Connect with a larger ecosystem of coaches, advisors, faculty, and staff through the Impact Entrepreneurship Initiative (IEI)
    • Receive invitations to events at The New School, including panel discussions, networking events, pitch nights, and fireside chats with inspiring entrepreneurs

    Key Commitments:

    • Participate in a virtual training session led by the Impact Entrepreneurship team
    • Commit to supporting Fellows for up to five months during the spring 2020 semester
    • Attend at least three cohort sessions on Saturday mornings from January through May
    • Provide up to three hours of phone/virtual advising per month outside of cohort sessions
