• Eligibility and Requirements

    The Impact Entrepreneurship Fellowship seeks to address issues of diversity and inclusion within the entrepreneurship sector. We are committed to addressing a lack of representation of members of minority groups in the United States among matriculated graduate students at The New School.

    To be selected for the Impact Entrepreneurship Fellowship, individuals must:

    • Be committed to promoting positive change through entrepreneurship
      • Have been admitted to a participating master's degree program at The New School in fall 2019 (see the list of participating programs below)

      Priority selection will be given to individuals who:

      • Are committed to building venture(s) in the United States and/or have strong affiliations with community-based organizations and projects in the United States
      • Are members of minority groups that are underrepresented in regard to entrepreneurship participation in the U.S. economy

      • Have faced financial constraints, socioeconomic barriers, or other related challenges that have limited their potential as entrepreneurs

        Expectations of Fellows

      • Enrollment in the Fellowship Cohort course, which will meet on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:50 p.m. during the fall 2018 semester
      • Enrollment in an entrepreneurship-focused course during the spring 2019 semester
      • Attendance at group meetings during the academic year
      • Regular communication with a mentor 
      • Application to the Venture Lab during the student's second year
      • Satisfactory progress toward the master's degree in which the student is enrolled
      • Enrollment in at least 6 credits per semester
      • Willingness to spend an average of 8-10 hours per week building an enterprise
      • Willingness to support other fellows, including those in future cohorts, and enthusiasm in doing so
