  • Eligibility and Requirements

    The Impact Entrepreneurship Fellowship seeks to address issues of diversity and inclusion within the entrepreneurship sector. Additionally, we are committed to addressing a lack of representation of members of minority groups within the United States among matriculated graduate students at The New School.

    To be selected for the Impact Entrepreneurship Fellowship, individuals must:

    • Be committed to promoting positive change through entrepreneurship
      • Have been admitted to a participating master's degree program at The New School in fall 2020 (see the list of participating programs below)

      Priority selection will be given to individuals who:

      • Are members of minority groups that are underrepresented in regard to entrepreneurship participation in the U.S. economy, as well as those who have faced financial constraints that have limited their potential as impact entrepreneurs
      • Are committed to building a venture in the United States and/or have strong affiliations with community-based organizations and projects in the United States

        Expectations of Fellows

        • Enrollment and satisfactory participation in the yearlong Impact Entrepreneurship Fellowship cohort course during the 2020-2021 academic year 
        • Attendance at periodic fellowship cohort events during each of two academic years
        • Regular and timely communication with the fellowship manager throughout the two-year fellowship journey
        • Participation in professional advising sessions with fellowship advisors and coaches and academic advising with one of the Impact Entrepreneurship Initiative team members 
        • Openness to new concepts, experiences, and perspectives
        • Satisfactory progress toward the master's degree in which you are enrolled
        • Enrollment in at least 6 credits per semester
        • Enthusiasm in supporting other fellows through peer-to-peer feedback
