DEED (Development through Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and Design) is a research laboratory founded in 2007 at Parsons School for Design. We focus on the future of indigenous artisans and their children. Through fieldwork programs, strategic partnerships, and academic research, we focus on models that equally support poverty alleviation, artisan empowerment, and cultural preservation.

As a research initiative, DEED is also an umbrella project for faculty to investigate their own areas of scholarship and research relating to design, development, entrepreneurship, and empowerment.
