  • IMG - Parsons Paris Study Abroad

    Each semester Parsons Paris admits a small number of visiting students from unaffiliated colleges and universities. Applications to Parsons Paris are processed by the Office of Admission at Parsons The New School for Design in New York and are considered complete only when the New York office has received all the required materials. Visiting students pay tuition to The New School.

    Students apply to one of the following degree programs:

    • BFA (Art, Media, and Technology; Fashion Design)
    • BA (Art and Design History and Theory)
    • BBA (Strategic Design and Management)

    Application Deadlines

    Fall semester (late August to mid-December): March 15
    Spring semester (late January to mid-May): October 15

    Application Requirements: Undergraduate

    The Office of Admission at Parsons’ New York campus must receive the items listed below before reviewing an application.

    All Applicants

    1. A completed Visiting Student Application form (PDF).
    2. A completed Advisor Approval form (PDF).
    3. Recommendation Letter (optional)
    4. English Proficiency Test Scores - if English is not the native language (TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE)
    5. Official Transcripts

    BFA Specific

    1. Portfolio: 8-12 pieces of a student's strongest work in their area of interest
    2. Visiting Student Statement: What do you make, how do you make it, and why do you make? Ultimately, where do you visualize your creative abilities and academic study taking you after your education at Parsons Paris?

    BBA Specific

    1. Portfolio: 3 pieces, which may include drawings, photographs, digital media, design, three-dimensional work, Web design, animation, video, data visualization, graphs, case studies, project overviews, survey results, or market research.
    2. Visiting Student Statement: What do you make, how do you make it, and why do you make? Ultimately, where do you visualize your creative abilities and academic study to take you after your education at Parsons Paris?

    BA Specific

    1. One of the following two essays:
      1. Essay 1: Please write a review of a museum/gallery exhibition you've recently visited. The review must include an analysis of the design of the space in relationship to works on display.
      2. Essay 2: Pick up an object in your immediate surroundings and conduct a close analysis of it. Reveal its cultural meaning by exploring various aspects of this object: form, function, decoration, use, production, consumption, display, etc.
    2. One required essay:
      1. Essay 3 (Required): Cultural identity is often mediated through art. That is particularly true in the case of Paris, a city often depicted in movies, literature, and the visual arts. How do you think your experience in Paris could enrich or change your current perception of French culture?

    Student Visas

    International students (those who are not EU citizens or permanent residents) must obtain a student visa before they enter France. Letters of acceptance include a link enabling students to begin their visa application.
