Application Instructions

  • Application Deadlines

    Fall semester (late August to mid-December): May 15 priority deadline

    Spring semester (late January to mid-May): October 15 priority deadline

    Non-EU citizens must complete their application within 10 days after the priority deadline, due to French visa processing timelines. We can accept applications from EU citizens after the priority deadline on a rolling basis. For questions about applying to be a visiting student, please email visiting@newschool.edu.

    Undergraduate Visiting Student Requirements

    Applications to study for a semester or year at Parsons Paris are handled by the Office of Admission at Parsons’ New York campus. The New York office must receive all of the items listed below before reviewing an application.

    All undergraduate students interested in studying abroad at Parsons Paris for a semester or year must submit the following:

    1. A completed Visiting Student Application (online form).
    2. Statement of Purpose (150-250 words, to be uploaded into the online application form) addressing the question: Why are you interested in studying at The New School?
    3. Unofficial transcripts from all secondary and postsecondary institutions attended to be uploaded into online application form.
    4. Fashion Design majors only: Portfolio consisting of 8 to 12 pieces of work, which may include but not be limited to drawings, paintings, photographs, digital media or design. Submit your portfolio through the application form as a single PDF.
    5. A TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE score is required for all international applicants and for students whose native language is not English. For Parsons Paris, the minimum score requirements are: TOEFL - 92; IELTS - 7; PTE - 63. The New School does not require TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE scores for applicants who have:
    • Attended a secondary school where English is the primary language of instruction for a minimum of three years.
    • Successfully completed two full semesters of non-ESL college-level expository writing.
    • Earned a 4 year degree from a U.S. College/University or from a University where English is the primary language of instruction. (Minimum of three years attendance).

    **Note, upon review of your application the Office of Admission may require an applicant to submit an English Proficiency test score to further evaluate candidacy.

    Student Visas

    Students who are not citizens of a European Union (EU) member state need to apply for, and obtain a student visa for your program at Parsons Paris before departing for France. The student visa process involves multiple steps and must be started early. Support is provided for students throughout the visa application process and Parsons Paris will provide students the appropriate documents for a visa application shortly after their enrollment offers are confirmed.
