Meredith Monk is a composer, singer, director, choreographer, and creator of new opera, musical theater works, and films, who for more than four decades has been influential in defining new vocabularies of performance and media. She is a pioneer of what is now called “extended vocal technique” and “interdisciplinary performance.”
