newcard is the official identification card of The New School. With the newcard, the university community can conveniently use one card to eat On-Campus (i.e. declining balance) as well as gain entry access and services at selected campus facilities including Academic Technology labs, Libraries, and events. The newcard must be carried at all times.
How can I get a newcard?
In order to obtain a newcard you must be a currently registered student, active faculty, administrative or staff member. If you are not an incoming freshman you must visit Campus Card Services (65 Fifth Avenue, M101) with a valid picture I.D (state drivers license, state photo I.D, or passport) and/or a Campus Card Authorization form (employees can get this form from human resources). We will verify your eligibility, take your picture, and present you with a newcard.
New students have the option of visiting Campus Card Services for a newcard but the best way to obtain your newcard is to submit a digital photo via email. Your card will be pre-printed, encoded, and ready for pick up when you arrive on campus. Submit your digital photo (jpg format only) to newcard@newschool.edu including your full name in the body of the email. Please make sure to follow these rules:
- Head Should directly face the camera
- Photo should crop from slightly above top of hair to middle of chest.
- Eyes must be open and facing the camera.
- Eyeglasses should be worn if normally used by subject. Glare on eyeglasses can usually be avoided with a slight tilt of the head
- Background should be white or off-white.
- Include headpieces if worn daily for religious purposes; they should not obscure or cast shadows on the eyes or any other part of the face.
Please submit your digital photo by 5:00PM Thursday July 31st.
How do I add money to my newcard?
To add money to the Dining Dollars account on the newcard visit Campus Card Services and fill out a newcard Dining Dollars form. To initiate a Dining Dollars account, the minimum amount of this program is $175.00 and additional monies can be added in multiples of $50.00. We accept cash, check, credit card, or money order for the Dining Dollars program.
