Ruchira Amare

After receiving a degree in engineering from the University of Mumbai, she moved into the field of fashion design in 2015, earning a BFA at Parsons School of Design. She also studied art in Mumbai. Today, under her brand, Y.R. Egon, she creates garments using techniques including block printing and natural dyeing. Amare is a contributor to the book Sewing: Techniques for Beginners, in which she discusses her unique stitching techniques. Amare's work has been discussed in such outlets as Ante magazine, the University of Fashion blog, and india.com.

In March 2025, Amare participated in Women in Fashion Leadership, a panel discussion celebrating Women's History Month. With fellow alumnae, she shared insights into the way her education at Parsons shaped her career, the challenges she has faced as an entrepreneur, and her vision for the future of fashion.
