The Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Studies requires completion of 120 credits, including at least 39 credits in the major as described below. Global Studies can be taken as a minor by students whose majors permit a minor.
Students in the self-designed Liberal Arts major (BA or BS) cannot designate a minor, but they can pursue a guided path of study in global studies through careful selection of courses.
Only designated courses satisfy major (or minor) requirements, including Global Studies electives, and only approved fieldwork experiences satisfy the Global Engagement requirement. The thematic clusters for electives are Places, Peoples, and Encounters;
Markets and States; Networks and Hierarchies; Rights, Justice, and Governance; and Global Spaces: Urban, Media, and Environment. Courses and thematic clusters should be chosen carefully in consultation with an advisor.
Students are encouraged to download the Program Requirement Worksheet for Global Studies to track their progress.
Students must receive grades of C or above in all courses taken to fulfill major or minor requirements.
