Learning Center

In-person tutoring sessions now take place in the University Center Library (63 Fifth Avenue, 6th floor) in comfortable collaboration rooms. This new space provides students and tutors with more privacy and better technology at a more convenient central location.

The University Learning Center (ULC) is dedicated to providing academic support to The New School’s diverse student population through one-on-one tutoring sessions, workshops, and more. Our primary goal is to help students become stronger and more independent learners, so that they succeed in achieving their academic goals.

Individual tutoring sessions are offered in the following areas: general and graduate-level writing, computer programming and software, math and economics, ESL services, oral presentations, time management, and ADHD coaching.

During the fall and spring semesters, students can book their own online and in-person tutoring appointments using our scheduling platform, WCONLINE. The ULC is open by request during the summer, winter break, and spring break. There are a greater number of online appointments available, but you can filter to see in-person availability. If you do not see an in-person or online session at a time that you need, please request an appointment here. If you would like to meet with a tutor regularly, we can also set up a weekly or bi-weekly session for you.

For online sessions, click on the Join Your Appointment button in the appointment window on WCONLINE. In-person sessions take place in the University Center Library (63 Fifth Avenue, 6th floor). Your appointment confirmation email will contain the room number.

We've put together a learning strategies guide including tips for approaching the semester and making the most of your courses. We also offer videos with tips for preparing for online classes, managing your time, engaging and staying connected, and learning to learn.

We are available to answer any questions you have and look forward to working with you and helping you in any way we can!
