Staff Senate

The New School Staff Senate advocates on behalf of all staff, aiming to protect and improve our working conditions, and advises the senior administration on questions that affect our daily work. In keeping with The New School's mission, the Staff Senate provides a representative voice and resource for all staff who are not represented in the Faculty Senate or the University Student Senate. The Staff Senate is an elected body of up to 28 full senators and 14 alternates. Staff senators are elected by staff in the area in which they work, and they represent and advocate for all staff members across all offices and schools. Senators possess the collective knowledge and skills to improve institutional, educational, and experiential interactions and operations to support students, faculty, staff, and leadership in the university. The Staff Senate works to ensure that staff needs are taken into account in leadership decision making.
