Management & Leadership (Minor)

Overview

The Management and Leadership minor is offered through Parsons School of Design.

The minor in Management and Leadership offers focused study of management and leadership processes and competencies involved in developing and maintaining inclusive, sustainable, and socially responsible organizations. Students learn to apply principles and methods that embrace interdependencies, navigate complexities, and connect the dots between multiple perspectives employing a socially responsible and global lens.

Curriculum

This minor requires successful completion of 18 credits. Course availability may vary from semester to semester. Some courses may be in development and offered at a later time. Students seeking to pursue alternative coursework to fulfill the minor should consult with their advisors.

* Substitutions for listed courses must be approved by the program chair.
** At least two courses must be at the 3000 level or above.

Learning Outcomes

A student who has completed this minor should be able to:

• Demonstrate an understanding of the contexts of modern organizations, including the legal, economic, and ethical environments, and how they shape organizational strategies for managing the future
• Employ critical thinking and creative problem solving to address the challenges of managing complex, socially responsible, and inclusive organizations
• Demonstrate familiarity with a range of leadership styles and the abilities required for effective and inclusive leadership
• Apply effective interpersonal, social, and collaborative skills needed to thrive in groups, organizations, and communities
• Demonstrate written and oral communication skills necessary for effectiveness in organizations

The Management and Leadership minor is available to all undergraduate students at The New School.
