Students may continue to declare this minor through the end of Spring 2026. This minor will no longer be available to be declared beginning Fall 2026. All declared students will be fully supported to complete their minor.
The French Studies minor is offered through the Adult Bachelor's Program and Parsons Paris.
A minor in French Studies provides an opportunity for students to supplement their academic major through focused coursework in the language, literature, and civilization of the French and Francophone world (i.e., Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and the Caribbean, as well as French-speaking communities in the United States).
French Studies is an interdisciplinary field of study, drawing on a broad range of courses in language, literature, film, history, and politics. The knowledge and skills gained from this minor can complement any program of study, deepening students' global competencies, cross-cultural perspectives, and awareness of a range of important cultural and social issues.
Course availability may vary from semester to semester. Some courses may be in development and offered at a later time. Students seeking to pursue alternative coursework to fulfill the minor should consult with their advisors.

A student who has completed this minor should be able to demonstrate:
Eighteen credits are needed for the minor; at least 12 of these credits must be earned by taking courses in the NFRN or NFLN subject codes at the 2000 level or higher.
Students who participate in a study abroad program with partner institutions may apply some of their coursework toward requirements for the minor in French Studies.
Students must earn a grade of C or higher in all courses taken for the minor.
