  • Code as a Liberal Art (Minor)

  • Overview

    Code as a Liberal Art is an undergraduate minor offered through Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts.

    Students in this minor deepen their understanding of code and computational thinking as part of a liberal arts education. Through disciplinary-based projects, you gain coding skills and investigate questions of access, equity, and social justice in relation to technological systems.     Curriculum

    The curriculum for this minor draws on undergraduate courses offered at Lang and Parsons. Electives must be chosen in consultation with the director of this program. See the university course catalog for fall 2020 Code as a Liberal Art courses that fulfill these requirements.

    The minor in Code as a Liberal Art requires completion of the following five courses:

    • LCST 2436 Code as a Liberal Art (4 credits)
    • Approved electives (14-16 credits)

    Total credits: 18-20

    Students must receive a grade of C or better in all courses taken to fulfill the minor.

    Eligibility

    Minors are available to undergraduate students across The New School.
