    This professional master's program educates managers and entrepreneurs for today's and tomorrow's media technologies and markets.

    In today's global media landscape, technologies and markets are evolving at lightning speed. In this environment of opportunity and change, business knowledge and broad management skills are critical to career success. This new graduate program prepares students for work in this exciting but challenging world.

    The MS in Media Management curriculum combines a strong foundation in managerial skills with critical analysis of media industries and their products. It is designed to encourage innovative thinking and entrepreneurship. Like all programs of The New School for Public Engagement, the media management program is open-minded, interdisciplinary, and future oriented. Students explore the principles of responsible and effective management and learn best practices in today's communications industries--television, movies, music, advertising, news, games, social media—while embracing change and evolving media platforms. The program of study covers:

    • Producing
    • Media Economics and Finance
    • Marketing
    • Distribution
    • Ethics

    The program maintains a robust relationship with some of the biggest and newest names in media and media management. Students have opportunities to study other disciplines relevant to their interests by taking electives within the broader Media Studies program and/or in other graduate programs of The New School, including the Milano School of International Affairs, Management and Urban Policy; Parsons The New School for Design; and Mannes College The New School for Music.

    The course of study is flexible, with a broad choice of electives and the option to culminate your studies with a thesis or project. You can study full-time or part-time. You can take classes at The New School in New York's Greenwich Village, study online from anywhere in the world, or combine studies in New York with online classes. Most classes on campus meet late afternoons, evenings, and weekends to accommodate the schedules of working professionals. The faculty includes leading media scholars, industry executives, producers, designers, and directors.
