The Doc Studies program culminates in a three-day student documentary festival, Truth Be Told, at the end of each school year. At the festival, certificate students' films are publicly screened and discussed by the filmmakers and faculty. The films are
the products of students' year-long study of documentary production, history, and theory.
To view past festival programs, including trailers of the documentary shorts, visit the Truth Be Told festival website.
The New School welcomes applications from aspiring documentarians of diverse backgrounds and experiences. You do not need a film degree to apply, but you must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and submit a portfolio,
including a video self-portrait, a creative sample, and a treatment for a documentary project. Learn more in the application instructions.
