LIVE AT THE SPOT Hybrid Arts Festival

 Hybrid Arts Festival

The Vybe Lounge collaborated with the Long Island–based arts organization Colored Colors and the venue Spotlight at The Paramount to produce the hybrid arts festival LIVE AT THE SPOT on April 25, 2021. Kierah Thompson undertook this project for her capstone in the MA Arts Management and Entrepreneurship program with the aim of providing local artists, especially people of color, with a safe space in which to create and showcase their work.

“Long Island, New York, has a history of segregation and many people of color, including artists of all disciplines, travel to NYC’s five boroughs to experience culture. LIVE AT THE SPOT  was able to bring different cultures and backgrounds together to celebrate many different forms of art in one space,” said Thompson.

The Vybe Lounge is planning another event, acquiring new partners, and applying for grants and business loans in order to acquire capital, purchase building space, licenses and permits, and equipment. For its next event, The Vybe Lounge plans to host a festival of Black art, music, clothes, food vendors, and wine to commemorate the Juneteenth holiday
