    • BFA in Jazz and Contemporary Music

      The four-year BFA in Jazz and Contemporary Music is a uniquely challenging and flexible program that includes intensive courses in technical, conceptual, aesthetic, and historical aspects of jazz and contemporary music.

      The curriculum emphasizes collaboration, gaining instrumental fluency, performance, and developing innovative skills to pursue a wide variety of careers in music. Students are mentored by a faculty of renowned musicians and can establish connections as artists and interns in New York City's music world.

      Program Details

      • Private Lessons and Major Study
      • Required and Elective Ensembles
      • Core Musicianship Coursework (Theory, Ear Training, Rhythmic Analysis, Sight-Reading, Vocal Musicianship for Voice Majors)

      Performing Arts Core

      Students also engage in a series of cross-disciplinary courses through the Performing Arts Core program, which includes a combination of required and elective courses taken by all undergraduate students at the College of Performing Arts. These courses explore themes including Improvisation and Collaboration, The Whole Human Artist, Socially Engaged Artistry, and Tech and Experimentation.
