    Rory Stuart

    Profile

    Rory Stuart, Associate Professor at the School of Jazz, is a jazz guitarist and composer based in New York. Described by Jazz Times as “Perhaps THE most innovative straight-ahead jazz guitarist to emerge in years," he designed and teaches the rhythm curriculum, and is the author of a 6-volume book series on rhythm about to be published. In addition to his critically acclaimed recordings as a leader, he has performed with a wide variety of jazz legends, from Brother Jazz McDuff, Bill Doggett, and Charlie Rouse to Steve Coleman's group with Cassandra Wilson and Geri Allen. Recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant and a Fulbright Scholar Award, he has performed and taught around the world, and directed jazz workshops in Italy, Korea, and Singapore.
