Armen Donelian has carved out an enviable international career spanning nearly five decades as a dynamic pianist with a host of Jazz luminaries including Sonny Rollins, Mongo Santamaria and Billy Harper in festivals, clubs and on recordings. Donelian has composed over 100 works and produced 13 acclaimed albums as a solo artist and band leader with musicians including Eddie Gomez, Billy Hart and Dick Oatts. An educator for 35 years at The New School Jazz Program, Donelian has taught globally as a Fulbright Scholar and an in-demand clinician at conservatories and universities. Donelian has authored four books including Training The Ear Vol. 1 that has been published in English, Japanese and Italian. Donelian was selected by the U.S. State Department to serve as a 2002 Fulbright Senior Scholar for a musical project in Armenia.
Donelian was selected by the U.S. State Department to serve as a Fulbright Specialist for musical projects in Armenia (2003), Finland (2004), Switzerland (2005), Sweden (2006), Greece (2009) and Romania (2022).
Donelian was selected by the National Endowment for the Arts as a Jazz Performance Fellow for musical projects in New York City (1984, 1987, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996).
