The New School recognizes the Associated Musicians of Greater New York, Local 802, American Federation of Musicians, AFL-CIO, as the collective bargaining representative of the part-time faculty of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, as further defined in the regular, part-time classroom faculty collective bargaining agreement between Local 802 and The New School.
All faculty members who belong to the union and all supervisors of these faculty members are required to thoroughly review the
contract between the university and Local 802.
Local 802 and the university concluded negotiations on February 29, 2016; the signed
Memorandum of Agreement (PDF) is available here. It lists the agreed-upon changes to the contract that expired on June 30, 2015. The changes listed in the
Memorandum of Agreement (PDF) will be incorporated into a new collective bargaining agreement, which will replace the one currently posted here.
