    Many Worlds Working Group (Ongoing)

THERE’S PLENTY OF KNOWLEDGE AVAILABLE ON HOW TO BUILD NEW TECHNOLOGIES, BUT HOW DO WE GO ABOUT BUILDING NEW WORLDVIEWS MADE FROM VALUES, BELIEFS, HOPES, FEARS AND DREAMS that drive ALTERNATIVE visions for technology?

The Many Worlds Working Group brings together disciplines from the humanities, arts and social sciences to collaboratively imagine alternative worldviews in the form of written vignettes based on research being done by faculty at TNS and beyond. Working with other makers, elements of these imaginary worlds will then be materialized in a variety of media including objects, performance, images, illustration, video, and dialogue.

The Many Worlds Working Group brings together disciplines from the humanities, science, arts and social theory to collaboratively imagine alternative worldviews in the form of written vignettes based on research being done by faculty at The New School and other organisations. Working with other makers, elements of these imaginary worlds will then be materialized in a variety of media including objects, performance, images, illustration, video, and dialogue.

The project aims to facilitate cross-disciplinary discussion about the place and role of alternatives in our lives and how they can be developed and experienced. It will explore connections with research in astrophysics, heterodox economics, political theory, anthropology, quantum mechanics, nonwestern philosophy, and synthetic biology.
