Areas of Expertise:
Flautist Judith Mendenhall has appeared throughout the United States, Europe, and East Asia as recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician, and teacher. She is the principal flautist of the American Ballet Theater Orchestra, a member of the Berkshire Bach Ensemble, has appeared in thirteen nationwide “Musicians From Marlboro” tours, and has been guest artist with the Cleveland, Emerson, and Mendelssohn String Quartets. Her solo recitals include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 92nd Street Y in its Distinguished Artists Series, the Schubert Club in St. Paul, and the National Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center in Taipei.

Mendenhall has been the principal flautist of the New York Chamber Symphony, the Mostly Mozart Festival, the Grand Teton Festival, and the Colorado Music Festival. She was a founding member of both the “Music Today” Ensemble, as well as the Naumburg Award-winning Aulos Wind Quintet. She has been on the faculty of Mannes School of Music since 1989, and is the chair of the wind department. She is also on the faculty of Queens College. Current summer festivals include recitals and master classes in Taiwan every two years, the Aria International Summer Academy, the Interlochen Flute Institute, and the Imani Winds Chamber Music Institute.

Mendenhall has recorded for Delos, Columbia, Vox, CRI, Koch, Bridge Records, and the Marlboro Recording Society.
