Areas of Expertise:
Hiroko Yajima is the winner of the Young Concert Artists International competition and first-prize winner of the Friday Morning Music Club Competition, in Washington, DC. She has had solo appearances with the Japan Philharmonic, St. Louis Little Symphony, Aspen Chamber Symphony, Bergen Philharmonic, New York String Orchestra, and Brandenburg Ensemble. Ms. Yajima was awarded a Fulbright Grant to study in the United States with Ivan Galamian and Dorothy Delay at the Juilliard School. She has played four New York solo recitals, at Town Hall, the Metropolitan Museum, Hunter College Auditorium, and the 92nd Street YMHA. She has participated in the Aspen and Marlboro festivals and gone on national tours with the Music from Marlboro series. Hiroko has been a guest artist at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, New York School Concerts, 92nd Street Y, and Brooklyn Academy Chamber Music Series. She was a member of the Galimir String Quartet from 1968 to 1993 and has been a member of the Mannes Trio (winner of a 1986 Naumburg Award) since 1983.
