
The New School offers the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Bachelor of
Science (BS) degree in Environmental Studies. Both programs bring
together courses from the natural sciences, the social sciences, and
design.
- The required natural science courses cover basic science,
laboratory research, general and urban ecology, and quantitative
reasoning.
- The required social science courses include an introduction to
urban environmental issues, geography and mapping, and advanced courses
in environmental planning, policy, and economics.
- The design requirements cover introduction to the principles and
tools of designing and creative applications in the context of urban
environmental problems.
- Each program of study also includes a few other course requirements
common to all liberal arts and/or design students and a range of
electives.
