This graduate certificate program provides a strong foundation of management principles and leadership skills for business professionals working or expecting to find work in the ever-changing global media landscape.
The curriculum includes courses in industry perspectives, media management and leadership, media economics, information technologies, competitive strategies, and corporate responsibility, and specialized classes devoted to the businesses of film, music
and social media.
The Media Management certificate curriculum can be completed on campus in New York City, online from anywhere, or by combining online and on-campus study. It is designed to be completed in one year studying full time, but part-time students are welcome.
Students who complete the Certificate in Media Management and apply for and are admitted to the
MA in Media Studies program or the
MS in Media Management program can transfer all credits taken for the certificate to the master's program, provided that grades of B or better were received in the
Students in this program also benefit from the resources, student networks, and faculty expertise of a university-wide community engaged in management and entrepreneurship.
Most students have educational backgrounds or work experience in communication media or a related field, but the only prerequisite is a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
