This page outlines requirements for the BA in Culture and Media at Lang. Students in the Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students (Adult Bachelor’s Program) who are pursuing a BA or BS in Media Studies should consult their core faculty advisor. Undergraduates across the university can study Culture and Media as a minor.

Requirements for the Major in Culture and Media at Lang

Only specific courses satisfy the major requirements, including electives. Introductory courses:

  • 2 introductory core courses (6–8 credits)

Other required courses and Senior Capstone:
Choose either Option A or Option B below:

  • Option A: 
    • 8 courses, 2 of which are practice-based and 6 of which must be at the 3000 level or above (24–32 credits):
      • 2 electives in the area of Cultural Studies (6–8 credits)
      • 2 electives in the area of Media Studies (6–8 credits)
      • 2 electives in the area of Screen Studies (6–8 credits)
      • 2 additional courses in any area of focus (6–8 credits)
    • 2 Senior Capstone courses (7–8 credits)
  • Option B: 8 courses, 2 of which are practice-based and 6 of which must be at the 3000 level or above (24–32 credits):
    • 6 electives in one area of focus: Cultural Studies, Media Studies, or Screen Studies (18–24 credits)
    • 1 elective in second area of focus (3–4 credits)
    • 1 elective in third area of focus (3–4 credits)
    • 2 Senior Capstone courses (7–8 credits)
