Welcome to The New School's University Center, a new focal point for our campus and our neighborhood, currently being built on 14th Street. With a design as distinctive as The New School itself, the University Center will offer state-of-the-art facilities, including fully wired "smart" classrooms, design studios, a student residence, and an auditorium with a convertible runway.

Described as "a celebration of the cosmopolitan city" by the New York Times' Nicolai Ouroussoff, the University Center is one of Manhattan's most ambitious and innovative new buildings. Designed to accommodate the steady growth in the number of degree-seeking students, the 16-story University Center is the largest building project The New School has ever undertaken.

On May 17, 2012, the University Center project reached a major milestone: its "topping out," the completion of vertical construction. Leaders and trustees of The New School, students and faculty, community representatives, and teams from Tishman Construction and the Durst Organization gathered at the building site to celebrate the achievement and look forward to the building's opening in fall 2013.
