Urban studies is for you if you want to learn about current social, cultural, economic, political, and environmental problems in cities, both in the United States and elsewhere; you want to develop the skills to be able to analyze those problems and propose solutions; and you want to be able to work with others to implement programs, policies, or practices that will bring those solutions to life. Urban studies helps you understand the complex dynamics of the contemporary world and formulate practical applications to improve the cities—and the world—we live in. Unlike most liberal arts colleges, Lang is located in the most complex urban laboratory in the world and we make the most of it. You won’t just read about urban issues; you’ll go out into the city and engage them directly.
