There are other types of nonimmigrant visas for temporary visitors to travel to the U.S. if their primary purpose is not to study. The purpose of your intended travel and other facts will determine what type of visa is required under U.S. immigration law. Some nonimmigrant visa categories allow individuals to study in the U.S. while they are engaged in the primary activity for which they were admitted, and other visa categories do not. It is important to have information about the type of nonimmigrant visa you hold and what the study and employment restrictions for that visa category are.
For more detailed information specific to each visa category, including how-to-apply information and frequently asked questions, please visit the Department of State visa types page.
