A First Prize winner of Claude Debussy International Competition (France) and International Piano Competition of Senigallia (Italy),Bulgarian pianist Pavlina Dokovska was praised for performances that are highly charged with the brilliance of her technique, depth of interpretation, and emotional subtlety. Ms. Dokovska appeared as a soloist, chamber musician, and soloist with orchestra throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. She taught at festivals including Beijing (BIMFA), IKIF at Mannes, PianoSummer in New Paltz, Seoul National University in Korea. Her recordings are released on Koch, Arcadia, RCA, GegaNew, Naxos, Elan, Labor Records. She studied at the National Academy for Music in Sofia, Bulgaria, with Julia and Konstantin Ganev (students of the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus), in Paris with Yvonne Lefebure, and received Master’s Degree from the Juilliard School as a Fulbright Scholar and a student of Beveridge Webster. She joined the faculty of Mannes College of Music in New York in 1995. In 1999, she was appointed Chair of the Piano Department, a position she holds to date, and founded the Mannes Yearlong Festivals, of which she is Artistic Director. At Mannes, she is a Full-Time Professor of Performance Practice. She is also Artistic Director of the Southwest Virginia Festival for the Arts.
