Karen DeMoss’ work focuses on school reform and education policy, with an emphasis on the creation and maintenance of systems to serve underrepresented youth. As national director for Research and Evaluation at New Leaders for New Schools, she investigated linkages between leadership, accountability policies, and student achievement. She has provided input into federal K–12 education policy, led statewide public input into research on education financing as part of the American Institute for Research (AIR) project on New Mexico’s school finance adequacy, and conducted internationally recognized work on how the arts support student learning.
