Robert McAlpin holds a BFA in Theater Design and Production from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas, and a MS in Non-Profit Management from Milano, The New School for Management and Urban Policy. His most recent theatrical experience includes: Set Designer for The Hartford Conservatory's productions of The Apple Tree (2008)and The Spitfire Grill (2007), and Producer for Urban Myth's productions of Opening (Winner, 2007 Samuel French Off Off Broadway Original Short Play Festival), The Falling Notes, and Safe. He also served as Company Manager for Sam Shephard's world premiere of The God of Hell; Associate Producer for Ridge Theater's production of Jennie Richee by Mac Wellman at St. Ann's Warehouse in DUMBO; and Associate Producer and Stage Manager for Ridge Theater's production of The Death of Klinghoffer by John Adams at BAM. As a Production Manager, his work includes productions for New York Stage and Film, The Women's Project, The Classical Theatre of Harlem, The Foundry Theatre, Mabou Mines, and Hartford Stage including the world premiere of The Carpetbagger's Children by Horton Foote. As an Assistant Scenic Designer he has worked with Scott Spahr (Theater Mitu) and Jeff Cowie on productions at Julliard, the Alliance, Henry Miller, Guthrie, and Alley theaters. Additionally, he has served on production teams for Hartford Stage, Chicago Shakespeare, and The Arizona Theater Company.
