Gary Vena holds a doctorate in Performance Studies from NYU. He is the author of Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh: Reconstructing the Premiere; How to Read and Write About Drama; and Drama and Performance: An Anthology, which he co-edited. His articles and reviews have appeared in English Studies, Resources for American Studies, Cineaste, and the Eugene O’Neill Review, for which he has served as an advisory editor. He has moderated annual roundtables for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education, and was a guest speaker in Brussels, the People’s Republic of China, and at the Nobel Symposium in Stockholm for the Eugene O’Neill Centennial. He is Professor Emeritus of Manhattan College’s English Department, and received its Bonus et Fidelis Medal for Outstanding Service. He was a member of the Structuralist Workshop, and has performed at the Amos Enos Gallery, The Performing Garage, and The LaMama Annex.
