Rick Sordeletfaculty
Profile:Rick Sordelet (Fight Director) has staged 50 Broadway productions, including
The Scottsboro Boys, The Royal Family, Disney’s The Lion King, Beauty and the
Beast, Tarzan, and Aida. Recently, Angels in America at the Signature Theater
and his 80th Romeo and Juliet for Chicago Shakespeare Theater. He has staged
the fights for the opera Cyrano de Bergerac, starring Placido Domingo, at the
Metropolitan Opera, The Royal Opera House, and La Scala in Milan, also Don
Carlos at the MET directed by Nick Hytner. Rick has staged fights for 52
productions on five continents including Ben Hur Live. Film credits include The
Game Plan starring Dwayne Johnson, Dan in Real Life starring Steve Carell,
Juliet Binoche and Hamlet starring Campbell Scott and Blair Brown. He was the
chief stunt coordinator forGuiding Light for 12 years and staged the fights
for First Jedi, a CD-Rom for George Lucas.
Mr. Sordelet teaches at The New School for Drama, the Yale School of Drama and
The Neighborhood Playhouse. He is a Board Member for the Shakespeare Theater
of New Jersey, and the author of the play Buried Treasure.
He holds an MFA from Rutgers University.
