David M. Kaplan
David M. Kaplan holds his BA in Technical Theatre with a concentration in Lighting Design from Hartwick College and his MFA in Technical Direction from Florida State University. Most recently, he was building and instructing at Kean University, Stevenson University, and University of Maryland Baltimore County. Professional Technical Director experience includes Premiere Stages, John W. Engman Theater, Rep Stage, and Mill Mountain Theatre. Other professional experience includes Baltimore Shakespeare Festival, PlayMakers Repertory Company, Shakespeare & Company, Glimmerglass Opera, Berkshire Theatre Festival, and The Theater Barn. Some of his most memorable moments are the world premiere of Lost Boy Found in Whole Foods (Premiere Stages), creating a functioning fountain on stage that cascaded into a three foot deep hot tub for Searching for Eden: The Diaries of Adam and Eve (Mill Mountain Theater), carving forty-four foam balustrades and building six life-size fake trees for A Midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare & Company), and recreating the desert with twenty tons of sand for A Better World (UMBC).
