Building on the success of DiFrancesco's first publication, All City, this is a wry and at the same time dark and transgressive story collection that explores transgender awareness and familial bonds.
One story tells of the hate that grows between 16-year-old Junie, who is transitioning, and her mom’s boyfriend, Chad, as the family moves into Chad’s house on Lake Erie. Another describes the tensions that grow between Sawyer and his dad, who named his boat after his child and resists changing the name from Sara to Sawyer now. DiFrancesco's characters are willing to enter lands that are violent and bleak, testing the limits of what it means to be human, sometimes returning stronger and wiser and sometimes not returning at all as they venture into unknown places.
