Tinker Street

Maureen McNeil, Milano School of SPE, '13

Tinker Street is the second book of a trilogy, the prequel to Anna Magdalena (2022). The third novel, Clover Reach, is scheduled for publication in 2026.

Tinker Street chronicles performance artist Anna Magdalena’s teenage years in Woodstock during the 1990s. Raised as a love child in the magical Catskills, Maggie, as she is called, embarks on a search for her father. Hoping to coax him into view, she performs scenes from King Lear on the town green and exhibits her miniature portraits of townsfolk at the library. Strangers approach with details of her birth. Her fairy godmothers rally as Dylan’s Man in the Long Black Coat appears. Ultimately, like Huck Finn, she heads downriver on an adventure of self-discovery.
