The aim of this book is to introduce readers to radical political economics from a variety of diverse disciplines and perspectives. Radical political economics (RPE) reveals the structures and dynamics of global capitalism. Offering a robust critique of capitalist institutions and of mainstream economics, RPE is distinctly different from orthodox economic thought, which often obfuscates the way capitalism actually works. RPE’s attention to method, ideology, and institutions differentiates it from mainstream approaches to economics. While maintaining a central focus on capitalism, the analyses in this book encompass a variety of issues, including racial discrimination, gender inequality, and economic development and imperialism.
