Stan Lee's Backchannel

Tom Akel, Parsons School of Design '04

Backchannel, one of the legendary Stan Lee’s final projects, beautifully illustrated by Spider-Man veteran Andie Tong, centers on Tom Tanner and his father, Martin. On the surface, Tom is living the life of an average high school student in LA - struggling to stay on the lacrosse team, hiding his feelings for his friend Sally, trying to keep his head down and his grades up. What his father, a police detective, and friends don’t know is that Tom is an engineering prodigy and is being recruited by Backchannel, a decentralized hacktivist group causing havoc at prisons across the United States.
