In Brigitte Lustenberger’s An Apparition of Memory, dried flowers fixed on old diapositive glass are transformed by light into delicate images to create an homage to the beauty of aging and the passage of time. The images reveal the astonishing intricacy of nature's sophisticated constructions, which is otherwise not visible to the human eye. In her images, Lustenberger merges the ephemerality of a light drawing with the durability of a photograph. Rather than identifying the flowers, she transforms each one into something unique, a portrait of an individual being with a story to tell. The title of each image is a quotation from a poem, song, TV show,or movie.
